Avie Tevanian leaving Apple!

I dreaded the day I would hear this, and today is the day! Can Apple continue to innovate OSX as it has without this genius at the helm? What are your thoughts?

Lo,

I would think that Jobs has a team of talented people, and not just one person responsible for the success of Apple products. No?

Avie has been the driving force behind many of the great innovations in the OSX even before he came to Apple, while working at Next. His straight forward thinking shows through with the simplicity of OSX. For the lack of excess clutter, and is probably the main reason Apple bought the OS or at least the guts of it from Next, while bringing Jobs back to Apple. He will surely be missed, but I am sure that over the years he has brought some other great talent to Apple. He said he wanted pursue other endeavors. Maybe he plans to fill the void of missing good software for the Mac. I'm sure we will hear more about him in the future. I think of him as being a successor to Jobs once he decides to retire.
