Gentlemen, what do you think of the new iTunes feature "Complete my Album"? For individual songs purchased in the last 180 days on the iTunes music store, people can opt to buy the complete album at a reduced price which gives credit for the songs already purchased. I think it's a great idea! I'm sure it won't revive album sales, but it will allow people to buy the rest of an album without having to pay for songs twice. Good idea, or ho hum?

That sounds like a great idea. That way you can download a couple of songs from an album and if you get hooked, then you can buy the rest of the album without repaying for the songs you already have. I know some groups were hesitent about putting their music on iTunes because Apple insisted that people be able to buy individual songs not just albums. Many musicians thought of their albums as a complete set, not to be broken up. This is somewhat of a compromise.
I can tell you, Stitch, that I'm considering buying some albums now that I wasn't originally going to because I would have paid twice for some songs. I think it's a great idea. It allows the person who buys a song for a buck as an experiment, and then buy the entire album if they like the one song, and not pay twice for the song. It makes total sense, and I wouldn't be surprised if iTunes sales increased because of this.
Interesting - is this going forward only, or is it retroactive to previous purchases?

It is retroactive. In fact, I read that until June the offer goes back even to the earliest songs you have bought beyond 180 days ago!
I already used the service - bought the rest of Tom Scott's album "Tom Cat". Worked like a charm!
