Have you seen the cell phone that Garmin has developed? It actually looks pretty cool and seems to be well designed. It has a touch screen and leverages Garmin's experience with GPS. They also support 3G technology. Who would have guessed that Garmin would produce such a cool phone. Jumping from GPS navigations systems to cell phones. Of course the devil is in the details. Right now it seems pictures are all that is available to review. No mention of price. Could this be real competition to the iPhone. Probably more so than the standard cell phone makers. But of course by the time this phone hits the market, the next generation iPhone will be released with more features. Probably including 3G.

And the competition makes things better for us! Let Apple compete with some legitimate competition, and who knows what cool things they'll come up with! I heard about the phone, but it wasn't supposed to be available for some time. You know, Apple is very well informed on the competition, and that's a good thing.
Well, it certainly looks good, but while being very competent GPS people, Garmin has no experience in the cell phone arena - an arena that's incredibly competitive. That being said, it seems like what Garmin is being very smart about is that they did not jump right in to the cell phone business, but instead seem to have taken their time. Their products have been on the shelves for years, and they could have introduced a bunch of phone models prior to now, but they didn't. Makes me think that this is perhaps a well thought out product.
