I had to share this with you guys. Apple just issued a huge update of Leopard, and I can't help but say how happy I am to be a Mac Fanatic. With the first release of Leopard, Apple introduced the "stacks" idea for the dock - click on a folder, and the contents would either "fan" out or produce a square grid, and you could pick any item within. Apple was roundly criticized because they took away the nice ability to navigate through embedded folders like you could in Tiger.
Here's what I love - Apple put the functionality back in, and they made it even BETTER! Now, you have your choice of doing list view, fan view, grid view, navigating folders, etc., and it's even FASTER than before! People do criticize Apple, and sometimes those criticisms are well founded, but Apple does respond to their users. I find that time and again!
By the way, on my way to ASU, I saw a student carrying a Macbook Air to class just like a regular textbook. We actually played with one at the Apple Store. They are indeed as light and thin as advertised. It will be interesting to see how it is adopted. Seeing a student with a Macbook Air already gives me that warm and fuzzy feeling, though!

Lo, you didn't say a lot about the MacBook Air, other than that it's thin and light...is it cool?

Is the MacBook Air hover like it does in the commercials? Now that would be a light notebook!
Dudes, the Macbook Air puts new meaning into the definition of "cool"!! It is sweet - there is nothing like putting your hand under a laptop and finding it is so easy to lift it up.
I tell you - Apple's products are so good that I'm still using the Powerbook G4 and it satisfies ALL my mobile computing needs. But if I didn't have a fully capable, kick butt laptop already, heaven help my checkbook!
For me, the MacBook Air is not what I am looking for. I am sure it has a market though. I would not want to give up the DVD drive, or the large number of ports in a MacBook Pro. But as you say, the G4 is still working for me. Christina prefers it for surfing the net while having the freedom to roam anywhere in the house.
Now the hinge is being held up by more than duct tape, right? :)
No the hinge has been fixed. I used that Mac rescue place. I was quite pleased. Of course if it was a PC I would have just left it. But when it is such a work of art. You need to take care of these things.
Stitch, your words are eloquent, and they point to a well read man of exquisite taste and high societal standards, if I may be so bold!
Gentlemen,
Let it be known that I, Le, am not inclined to consent to either one of you being 'so bold!' :-)

I believe when saying one is "being so bold" that you are in fact going out on a limb with the statement that you are making. So in effect is MacFan saying that it would be bold to imply that I have exquisite taste? I hope I am misinterpreting.
Or in fact one could say that I am "being so bold" in heaping praise upon one who is so humble as to feel uncomfortable with such praise, no?
I believe we have turned this one inside out a few times too many!!
