Well, since that fateful shareholder meeting with Michael Dell in the late nineties, quite a bit has changed, am I right? There is no better time to be a Mac head than here and now! Apple's market value is quadruple that of Dell's, which does not surprise us, but no doubt gives Michael Dell something to regret at night.
Quadruple!

Michael Dell's comments about Apple back in 97 were almost as classic as Bill Gates' comment that "who would need more than 640K of memory".
I like some of the comments in the article that make the statement that Dell does not innovate so now all they are left with is competing on price alone. Sucks to be you, Dell.
Very well put, Stitch. Kudos to your eloquent commentary.
Before we get too happy with ourselves, gents, let's remember that all businesses ebb and flow over time. Inasmuch as it was a foolish thing for Dell to say what he did, let's not make the same kind of misstatement about Dell.

Ahh come on Le, trash talking is fun. Plus you are expected to overstate the current situation when you trash talk. The more off the wall the better. But Michael Dell is a CEO, so trash talking for him is not really an option.
Yes it is true that companies go through phases. And it may be possible that Dell hires some innovative people to turn the company around. But I believe it takes years to develop the culture needed for this innovation. And based on some of Dell's past products, like there iPod clone. I am not really expecting great things in the near future. Maybe they could commoditize some other products like toaster ovens or electric razors. Oh wait, it already has been done.
Anyway, feel free to chime in with the trash talking if you like. We won't hold it against you in 5 years. :)
