Have you guys read the news of the Windows 7 OS? (successor to the venerable Vista OS) Word is it will incorporate support for multi touch gestures as well as have a dock. Does any of this sound familiar? I dunno, sounds a little familiar to me! But who knows, the dock may not make it into the final release of Windows 7 which is still at least a couple of years off (if history is any indication).

I heard about the gestures, but did not know about the dock idea. When was OSX first released? About 8 years ago? I guess that's about right for how long it takes MS to incorporate Apple's innovations. Personally, I don't really see the big advantage of the dock anyway. It seems like you end up overloading it with stuff anyways. Just like any flat surface in your house.
I saw a video demonstrating the gestures. It looked like it was very early in development. Almost as if they hired a grad student who was doing a research project on the subject. I can't see MS incorporating it into the next OS in time. Or maybe they will and it won't be finished, as they usually do.
By the way, where does the "7" come from in the new name? Let's see the history: 3.1, ME, NT, 2000, XP, 7. I am having a hard time finding the pattern.
You know, with the latest incarnation of the dock (with its tweaked update features) I do use it all the time. The modern stacks feature is exactly what I need! Between spotlight and the dock, I have all the application launcher tools I need - I don't need any 3rd party solutions. I do not, however, deny partiality on my part!
Windows 7 must result from poker or craps, with 7 being a lucky number. Count on it!!
