Although there was some grumbling about this Macworld being sub par, I kind of feel this was an average Macworld. I believe that several times new versions of iWork and iLife have been introduced at Macworld, and this one was no different. I was actually rather impressed at their continuing innovation regarding those two software packages. For example, while Garageband didn't get much that is crazy cool ( music lessons are very welcome, but it's not like you can't get software that does the same thing elsewhere), please consider the iPhoto face recognition feature. Now I haven't personally used it, but it sounds pretty darn impressive, and it has received kudos from several reviewers. In fact, I don't know how Apple continues to come up with new ideas for these software packages. And iMovie really has some nice added features that I argue are not the same thing everyone else has.
I admit the new powerbook was more or less the updating of the 17 inch version to what the Macbook has, albeit a lot more powerful.
I suspect the groundbreakers will take place only in the "invitation only" events from now on. Were you disappointed?

I think MacWorld was pretty much what you would have expected at this time. iLife and iWork are being moved forward with some cool new features. I wish Apple would come up with a better way to backup iTunes libraries and other libraries such as iPhoto. Sure you can backup increamentaly to DVD's but I would like a simple way to archive to an external hard drive. So you can have multiple libraries which you can switch on the fly. Keeping large files like video off on an external hard drive and your music on your local drive.
Sure no groudbreakers, but in this economy you want to introduce something new which needs a surge of success. Just keep the innovation occuring behind the scenes.
iMovie amazes me. What you can do with such an inexpensive program. The new way of editing is so intuitive. As you would expect from Apple.
I didn't realize that Apple designed their own batteries. Compacting the batteries into rectangular forms seem obvious, but if the industry doesn't do it then I guess you need to design them yourselves. I guess that is what I like so much about Apple. They just look at everything with a fresh set of eyes and say, hey if we just do this little change we will have great improvements. It good to see a company foster this type of environment.
Question - do you think Time Machine is as valid a backup method as anything? As long as you have Time Machine on and updating, it will update it's copy of the system, including the iTunes library, with the new material.
I'm just curious if you find the Time Machine backup lacking for iTunes music.
