Special Event Sept 9

Stitch, I'm sure you have already heard that there is a special event coming up. Speculation is rampant on some tablet idea, but I seriously doubt it. This is about music! That happens to be the same day the Beatles release all their albums in remastered form, and everyone thinks Apple will let customers download them from iTunes. Are you interested? Thinking about a new iPod? Word is they could have cameras!

The Tablet idea seems like a logical next step for Apple. As for the Beatles on iTunes, this is a rather minor issue since you can just buy the CD and rip it into iTunes. It's not like people with iTunes can listen to the Beatles on their iPod.

I am in no way ready to upgrade my iPod. The Classic 80GB does everything I am looking for. The iTouch is cool but still too pricey for me when I have a perfectly capable iPod right now.

What about you. You are pretty much up to date with the latest updates with hardware and software. The only missing piece is the AppleTV. By the way it does work with standard def TV if you have the component video ports on your TV. Which most recent TVs do have. This is how I have it setup. The only issue is if you view std def video with AppleTV on a std def TV (480p) then AppleTV squishes it so everything looks too tall. The AppleTV hack Boxee allows more control and avoids the squished effect. Regular AppleTV does not give you options to adjust the scaling of the video. But I think AppleTV is due for a major upgrade if Apple hasn't completely given up on it.

I completely agree - the pieces need to be in place for us to consider purchasing the AppleTV. I just would not want to do anything without a Hi Def TV - I think it defeats the purpose. And while we are considering a Hi Def TV for the future, there are other more important priorities right now. Lately we have had to upgrade several appliances and fixtures in the house. You know as well as I do that it's expensive! So I think we can hold out on the AppleTV!
