Run for the hills, Microsoft has anounced that it may develop its own personal music player to compete head to head with Apple's iPod. Microsoft has been unhappy with its other partners who build PMP's with not being able to penitrate Apple's market share. Bill Gates was quoted as saying, "people would prefer a choice over Apple's iPod".
A choice! Ha. Microsoft can say that with a straight face. They all believe in choices, as long as everyone picks their offering. I believe the motto is more: "crush all possible choices for the consumer so they have to choose Microsoft."

You know, it's kind of pathetic. For several years now, Microsoft has been flogging its minions to produce the same Microsoft business system they have with the operating system - we'll (Microsoft) build the software, you buid us devices, and with our sheer numbers abd billions in the bank, we will crush them!!!"
Gates has several times impied that it was only a matter of time before all these wonderful choices eventually took down the iPod. Well looky here!! The iPod didn't go ANYWHERE, and we're still kicking butt!
Looks like the "kill them with numbers" outlook of the Microsoft behemoth didn't work this time!
