Holy Crap !!

Can you believe the new iPhone? What a leap in technology. They were even able to cram a scaled down version of OSX into it. And the idea of no buttons so that it can change with the times is a stroke of genious. I hope the interface is as good as they described it. The screen resolution looks amazing and even the price is reasonable for what you get. No wonder after Job's presentation they gave him a standing ovation. Bravo. The Zune looks like a joke in comparison.

You said it, Stitch! The thing combines several capabilities into a very small device with a revolutionary input technique and everything the iPod had! Interestingly, it's the phone ability that Jobs said was the most "killer". It seems to allow one to easily find a location on Google Maps, then immediately translate that into a phone call. Awesome. I'm very happy they've carefully patented the tehnologies. And with everything, we finally get our widescreen iPod! My issue is the hard drive storage, which seems a little limited, what with Paramount coming on board. I'm wondering if the vast majority of video users only watch TV shows they missed, not really movies. And of course, that's what Apple TV is for!

THis is the technology everyone's been waiting for!

Oh yeah, again you hit the nail on the head, Stitch.

The Zune looks like a freakin preschool toy by comparison!

I would have to agree that the amount of storage is limited. They should have an expansion slot to add more flash memory as the price of them came down. But I am sure the reason to leave it out was so you would have to buy a new on down the road. Similar to the iPod marketing strategy. I think from a business perspective you can't give the world or you won't make any money. You just need to be ahead of the pack in overall features. I think they succeeded and will be out front for some time.

Doesn't it have a little card slot? I thought it did. And this may be an avenue for memory flexibility.

I believe the slot that it does have is a SIM card slot. The SIM card is a very small, thin, memory card which tells the phone all the info to make it work on a certain cell phone network. Many mobile phone companies (the networks not the phone manufacturers) lock the cell phone before they send it to the customer so it can only be used on their network. There are ways to unlock the phone and put any carriers SIM card in to use another network and phone number.
I wonder if the iPhone will be a locked phone? If not, then you could theoretically put in any carriers SIM card and use their network instead of Cingulars. But some of the advanced features would not work like push email.
