Appleworks R.I.P.

Stitch, it was announced that Apple would no longer sell the venerable Appleworks suite!

R.I.P.

But Apple hasn't updated the suite in forever, so I guess it was just a matter of time. And naturally the iWork suite is quite capable. The only thing it doesn't have is a database application, and I wonder how many people actually made use of it. Are you mourning the loss, Stitch?

I didn't even realize that they were still selling Appleworks. I don't believe it had been updated in years. Even when it went to OSX, it was just a port of the OS9 version with no new features.
I always thought of the database in Appleworks as pretty lame. I never found any use for it. Apple had File maker Pro which is considered one of the best database programs out there. On both the Mac and PC. But I believe it was spun off as a separate company. Check out filemaker.com. iWork will more than fill in the gap of Appleworks. Appleworks is the grandfather of iWork in my view.

Stitch, I could not agree more. I think I started using the data base but then stopped a long time ago. Appleworks wasn't even put into Cocoa - it remained a Carbon app. And iWork is awesome!
