Well, a major defection has occurred. NBC will not have programming on iTunes for the coming season. Ouch! Apparently NBC wanted to double prices - shows would have gone up to $4.99 from their current $1.99. However, I understand they can still hammer out a deal - but right now Apple and iTunes arew at an impasse. Will they work it out? It sure seems like a tough situation. What do you think?

I think this kind of news is rather premature. To report NBC pulling out while negotiations are still going on just gives a snapshot of where the negotiations are going. Both NBC and Apple want a deal to be worked out it is just a matter of what can be agreed upon. I am sure some resolution will be made and NBC will still be delivering content on iTunes. I was surprised to hear that 40% of the video content downloaded on iTunes is from NBC. So I guess they feel like they have negotiating power now. I think Apple should drop the one price for everything and be more like Amazon. Just a storefront for the vendors who sell on their site. iTunes is established, let the free market set the prices from now on.
