Apple delivers, Baby!

Well, about the only disappointment for Apple's announcement was that the Shuffle remains unchanged.

IPod nanos do video and cover flow, the Classic iPod is thinner and carries more music than ever, and...

The iPod Touch is the iPhone without the phone! And you can buy over the internet, baby! It just seemed like this time Apple was working on everyone's dream features for the iPod. I am a little surprised that the product line is getting so big. I would have guessed they would do away with what is now the "Classic iPod". Gentlemen, what do you think of today's announcements?

I think that Apple is making some very good moves here, not the least of which is the reduction in the iPhone pricing - probably the only really big drawback to the iPhone.

I am very impressed with all the updates. It's a shame that the iPod touch will not be available until the end of the month. I would really be interested in it as an entertainment device and also for surfing the web! However, having an iPod based on the original design that holds 160 gig is also enticing - I could use it as a bona fide back up drive.

Le,

I think Apple has really succeded at marketing when they force you to sway back and forth between the benefits of two different products. They have a very stairstepped approch both in size and features, always enticing you too to the next level up. The only drawback that I see is with the touch screen ipod. The 6GB size is not big enough for a device without a cell phone. Even if it has WiFi internet. Heck its only as big as the small nanos in size. It seems very top heavy. I guess maybe the 6GB is the teaser version just to advertise a lower starting price but impracticle.
As for the lack of a shuffle update, they did update the color. Apple typically doesn't introduce all new designs for the entire product line. I am sure the update for the shuffle will come after the holidays.
One surprising thing is the way Wall Street reacted to the latest Apple news. The stock dropped about 7.5% in one day. Supposodly they felt that dropping the iPhone price was a sign of a weakening market. I think Apple had a pie in the sky price for the original which was bound to come down soon if they wanted any more than the "must have it first" crowd. I believe that was over my 2 cent limit of what I think.

Oops, a correction from 6GB to 8GB for the smallest iPod touch. But it still is too small.
