The Mac gets dissed

I saw a computer ad on TV yesterday where this guy was searching for the perfect computer. He says he has up to $1500 to spend. He looks at some Netbook computers and dismisses them as toys. He picks up an Apple laptop and says they look cool but he needs a computer with some real computing capabilities. Then he walks out with a Windows computer and says something to the effect, "he has all the computer he needs". And leaves a happy customer.

I was shocked how they blatantly diss the Mac in the Ad. Implying it looks good but is lacking in ability. What a crock.

Stitch, this is the same thing that the Windows evangelists have been riding on for years and years. I believe now Microsoft is feeling the heat from Apple mostly, and they are trying to change public opinion. In their defense, the ad campaign of Apple's lampooning Vista was enough to get them to try to strike back in the face of declining market share.

How do you do that? Spread misinformation - try to get the general public to think only of their pocketbook and ignore quality, usability and the long term value of a computer. Forget about the viruses, the malware, the crap that comes installed on most Windows machines.

This isn't new - it's just that Microsoft has to officially spout misinformation, whereas before it was only the PC only crowd.
