Actually I saw that I did in fact miss the whole point! It will be very interesting to see how it plays out. Perhaps they could reach a kind of compromise? (I'm not sure if that's even advisable).
I do know that Apple insists on programs behaving a certain way with a certain aesthetic. For example, I don't think MS would ever allow an Apple software program on Windows that did not have some basic Windows features and looks. You would never see a pure Aqua interface on a Windows only program. They may very well be going too far with this. Hopefully some folks at Apple can remind the management that you can take it too far! This does stifle user choices!
