Stitch, clearly the iPad 2 will be announced a week from today. There is no doubt in my mind Apple has been feverishly working on the next generation because, once everyone saw how to do it from Apple, no one wants to be left behind. That happened with the iPhone, and Apple knows the drill. I just hope Apple prepared enough for how crazy everyone was trying to get a piece of the pie. No doubt, Steve Jobs knew it could get like this. It will be interesting to see what Apple has up its sleeves!

I am sure the iPad2 will be a big hit. I don't know what major improvement could be made besides adding the front and back camera to the device and increasing memory storage. I read an article which was saying that the Apple will be so far ahead of the competition since they have such an integrated system for making and selling the iPad. They make their own CPU, the OS, are a major buyer of RAM and other chips to get volume discounts, and they have their own stores. All this adds up to less middlemen taking a cut and allowing for Apple to sell cheaper than the competition. It will take a while for the competition to duplicate this type of consolidation, and by then Apple's lead will be even greater. The only possible missteps that I can see is how Apple tries to make their devices unupgradable. You can't add more flash memory or even change the battery yourself. In this day and age this may not be an issue since technology seems to become outdated so quickly that you just buy a new device instead of upgrading but this is a calculated risk on Apples part. Hope they know how much the buyers are willing to put up with.
