Zune nano-killer

Making the rounds in cyber space is the rumor that MS is ready to release a "nano killer", as bloggers are calling it. Supposedly very small and with a rather large screen on the surface, it is set to knock out the iPod nano. Can MS do it?

Just like the Zune killed the 30GB iPod I suppose.

I think that it's highly unlikely that MS will be able to displace Apple with any of these products under their current culture. I think that in order for MS to really do it, they need to create a subdivision that has its own, new culture of innovation. The current MS culture is one of conquering - that is not going to work with these products, because Apple, ironically a company with an innovation culture, has already conquered the market.

An outstanding point, Le. MS wants to conquer, and they like to SAY that they have innovation, but the reality is that they would conquer without innovation if they could! All that matters is that they keep on saying it, while they try to conquer the same brute force way they normally have.

If I remember correctly, the Zune was developed by the same group as the Xbox. Which does have somewhat of a different culture than the rest of MS. It may not be different enough though.
