I didn't want to appear like I was gloating, but upon return to my office I found a new Core 2 Duo iMac on my desk. In nothing flat I was up and running. This machine truly defines "butta". The screen is magnificent, it is snappy, it is everything I need in a computer!

You know, I had almost the same experience. But it was with a Windows PC at work. I had to beg for an updated computer and then when IT came to set it up they found out that the motherboard was fried. We are using the old XP version of the windows operating system I believe because nobody has the nerve to upgrade to Vista. We even use 5 year old versions of MS office because the company has decided to get off of the upgrade train that MS says you need to do.
Whenever my computer starts acting weird, like settings don't get set, and networks don't connect anymore. All I need to do is reboot my computer and cross my fingers. It is truly a modern OS. So far I have not had to reinstall Windows yet. I have lost the sound because Windows greys out the option to select the sound driver. I have checked online and found that others have fixed this by editing the dreaded registry or reinstalling Windows. I think I can live without sound for now. Someone else I know got IT to upgrade their machine and ended up having there external hard drive reformatted, wiping out all of his data. So I don't feel comfortable calling IT on this one. So as you can see, I am in fat city just like you MFan! Ugh!
