Gentlemen, I have seen lots of ads for the Verizon "Chocolate". It has lots of bluetooth capabilities (headsets, etc.) and allows one to download songs wirelessly. Is this the dreaded "iPod Killer" that we have heard about over and over and over again? Any comments?

The argument is that there are so many more cell phone owners than ipod owners that the potential market for music on a cell phone is enormous. But so far people have not bitten. There have been about a few million downloads for music on cell phones since their inception. But compared to the total market and iTunes it is dwarfed. People like idea of a well integrated device. I wonder how the software is for this? The simplicity of the software plus the cool factor of the ipod is a hard combination to beat. Everything else looks like an immitation.
Gents,
I do not see this as an iPod killer. I think that it's a smart move by Verizon and LG. However, the establishment of the iPod and iTunes will be difficult to displace, especially in light of the fact that Apple is going to a phone of its own. Being an owner of an LG phone that has lots of abilities, including MP3, I have to say that they make good, though not great, products. I believe it's going to take one hell of a product and service to displace Apple. Just my two pennies worth.

Amen in the highest!
I have to question the battery life. A typical cell phone with just normal use drains the batteries quickly. So add to that a few hours of music play and you better be near by an outlet with your plug-in in hand. Sounds like way too much to consider an all in one option.
I totally agree, Macminni. Apple thinks very carefully about new features and the impact it makes on the user experience. And that definitely impacts user experience!
