Nancy Long - Latest Switcher

Well, after 6 long, boring years, my mother-in-law has officially made the change from her dinosaur Dell (Dull) to a bright shiny new iMac. The Dell made so much noise while crunching info that you could barely hear each other in the same room. The new iMac is whisper quiet and the screen has her jaw still on the ground. She is not a heavy user but will no doubt benefit from the ease of use of her mac. My wife and I have been working on her for the last few years and now she has come over from the dark side. So the next switch commercial just may feature a senior citizen on the right side, "I'm a mac". I just want to know when I should expect my 10% commission from Apple for my presale cohersion.

We converted my father a couple of years ago to the G5 iMac, and he's still a happy Mac user!

Let us welcome another soul into the Mac community!

Over 30 million served, just like McDonalds. I think that would be a great idea for new Mac ads. I read that Apple is reconsidering the PC/Mac ads because the guy playing the Mac comes off a bit smug. I think a great switch would be just everyday people who use Macs to take his place in the commercials. "Hi, I'm a Mac and I love to iChat with my grandkids" Of course keep the same boring PC guy.

So when is Nancy going to join the MacNight forum?

Nancy has no idea what a blog is. I've got my hands full just getting her up to speed with iPhoto... During our visit, not only did she say, "It's great having a man around the house." she added, "It's great having a mac geek around the house."

Personally, I like the current ad series. The addition of humor lessens the smugness, but hey it's hard not being smug when you're dealing with PC people. I especially like the counseling session, least fav is the iMovie with the chick. As I recall the previous ad series had somewhat normal people describing how they used their Macs, ie. iChatting. My two cents, but just remember I am an advertising professional...

PS - I figured out how to change my screen name to Macminni!

An excellent analysis, Macminni. I, however, love the ad with the "chick". I thought it was an outstanding analogy between what is typically done on a Mac as compared to a PC. Everyone knows that one can buy excellent software for the PC if you're willing to to the research, shell out the cash, etc. But with a Mac, it's all there when you buy it and incredibly easy to use!! Just my 4 cents.

I did like the "chick" ad too but it did seem a bit awkward. The counselor ad was a very humorous punchline, with the "waste of time" comment. I would have to give the nod to the counselor ad myself. Just my $1.25.

.... Inflation you know.
