I believe there will always be some people who complain that you cannot have all of your music for free and be able to freely copy it and give it to all of your friends. But the music industry will never be able to survive in this mode. They argue that when you owned CD's you were free to give it to anyone you wished. In a digital world, I think things are a bit different. You can make exact duplicates which until recently was not possible with CD's. You can still make a copy but the copy now as in the past was a little inferior to the original.

The digital revolution would not even have been POSSIBLE without the DRM concept - the record comapnies wouldn't even play ball without it! Maybe I don't completely understand the argument, but it seems that regular people really CAN take their music with them. Just reimport the songs, albeit at a slightly degraded quality, but probably not noticable by the average person.
Did you go to there website? They have pictures of them protesting with Hazmet suits on in a few Apple stores. Even Steve Jobs issued a statement saying that the DRM should allow you to play your music on any device that you own. This is a surprising statement since it seems Apple prefers to keep their DRM to themselves. I wonder if the rest of Apples board or maybe the music executives do not want the DRM to be across the board. I think in the long run there should be a public DRM which any company can use so that owning the rights to the DRM doesn't mean you are at the mercy of that company.
