India Call Center is History!

Gentlemen, Apple just changed course and will NOT open a technical support center in India. Why the change of heart? Is it because they are not sure they can maintain their level of service to the Mac faithful? What's your take?

My experience with using other company's call centers in India has been so-so. They do seem to have all the time in the world to be able to help you with your problem. But my experience has been that they are trained to answer only a select set of questions which they have answers to. If you throw them a curve ball then you tend to keep getting the same canned response which does not apply to your situation. This could depend on the level of training but I do believe that having a cultural difference can hinder communication at times.

An astute observation, Stitch. I would have to agree, although I have limited experience with these call centers. I will add that for some reason, connections are sometimes kind of crappy. I'm actually glad they've decided to pull the plug, at least for now.
