I never forgot your comment on the widgets and how much memory they take up. Well, I downloaded a cool Automator action called "Widget Killer" which you can run to enable or disable the dashboard with one click! Don't get me wrong, I still love the dashboard, but I also like having tons of Ram available when I'm doing work.

Someday I wish to also partake in the Dashboard experience. MacMinni did post a comment to the iPod vs. Beer issue but since this is an older post I don't think many have seen it.
Do this widgets really use that much Ram? Most of them do such basic tasks. I could see that ones that have something like video being a memory hog.
Agreed MF, when you use RAM suckers like photoshop as I do, you want to keep her lean. I'll have to do more looking into Automator. When considering Applescripts in the past, I was felt like I could execute the command faster then calling up the AS.
